Keith brings to the table a lifetime of hands on experience, working in and for small-to-medium enterprises covering a range of sectors ranging from manufacturing in the automotive parts and accessories industry, through service businesses and civil engineering to adult education in the not-for-profit sector.
Coupled with this he has full professional qualifications to degree level and membership of relevant accountancy professional bodies, including a Professional Practice Certificate from the IPA.
The working history in the SME area has of necessity involved acquisition of a high level of versatility, the ability to deal with the wide range of commercial issues that have to be dealt with in this environment, together with a predilection for telling you what you need to know, even if this is not always what you wanted to hear.
It was from this background that the decision was made more than eight years ago, after a six year engagement as Financial Controller for an $8M/year education institution, to establish Keith McKnight & Associates and to make the services of a qualified accountant at senior level available to smaller businesses which would not normally be able to employ a person at this level within their businesses.
The past eleven years has resulted in involvement in a wide range of engagements, often including sorting out the consequences of inappropriately established and maintained accounting systems, for a wide range of businesses including:
          public relations agency, including restructuring of their partnership as a company;
          contracting business in building industry, in particular involving setting up their accounting & reporting
          import and distribution business;
          incorporation and administrative/accounting set up of a new national peak body in the education sector;
          mid-size civil engineering group, including extensive re-organisation of financial reporting systems and
                     related matters;
         consultancy to various NFP education entities, relating to financial management matters
Keith remains enthusiastic to take on new challenges, to assist businesses to move forward and prosper into the future.
